The Historic Centre of Warsaw was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list on Sept. 2, 1980, as "an outstanding example of a near-total reconstruction of a span of history covering the 13th to the 20th century".
On Sept. 1st, 2008, 28 years after, this granite memorial with a 3-D model of Old Town in bronze was erected on the historic street Krakowskie Przedmiescie.
