I am doing a few evening classes to improve the composition of my pictures.

oh, effective use of leading lines, they carry the eye through the entire image.
Great framing with the tree branch and the stone in the foreground...
nice contrasty tones...very well captured, has great depth.

I agree. The composition really works, I think. I like the range of tone you have, too; light and airy in the distance, but dark and contrasted in the foreground. Nice job.
