Smoky

In the distance are the Eildon Hills surrounded by smoke from the grass fires on the Otterburn army ranges about 30 miles away.
Apparently no-one realised that tracer bullets might cause very dry grassland to catch fire.

A beautiful scene but sad to learn about the fire.

Stupid and sad. I was flying back from London and the smoke can be seen for miles.

I never think of fires in England... changing times indeed. Does make for an interesting sky.

LOL at Ray...his comment says it all, Mr Mannering :)

Fires are something we are familiar with, but it's never nice to see.

Nice photo, none the less. That field sure looks dry enough to go up easily. BV

A lovely image John.
The fires seem to be getting seriously out of control.
I understand things regenerate but the wildlife is now suffering.

Excellent pano shot, really worried about all this dryness. V

Otterburn seems aptly named then...there are a few other fires near Manchester making the news over here...seems odd to learn of such hot dry conditions in England..

Most beautiful colors John and a fine composition! It's a pity nobody realised the chance on a fire. V
