A Dartmoor sheep high up on the rocks and silhouetted against the sunset.
The dots in the image, appearing to the right of the sheep, are midges which
appear in their thousands at this time of day. Livestock on the moor have
special patterns of behaviour which enable them to get the best out of the weather
up here; they also have their favourite places for shade, shelter from the winds and
for night and day. In winter you'll often find ponies and sheep congregating at
lower levels and near to Moor Gate. This sheep is probably on the rocks to
enjoy the residual warmth which the rocks soaked up from the sun during the day.
