If it's going to snow in Devon then the northern edge of Dartmoor usually gets it most.
Unless there is a blizzard in January or February (and we have had some very severe ones
with snow still lying until the Spring sunshine arrives) the snow seldom stays for long,
and its meltwater quickly swells the streams.
