They settled this part of the moor in ancient times and by the looks of things made a pretty good job of it.
All that remains today are a collection these old hut circle stones. Walk up the hills to either
side of Grimspound then look back down and you'll see them all enclosed inside a massive oval
stone walled pound. Very limited parking off a minor road 1/4 mile down the hill, so choose your time.
