The McBurnie California Daytona Spyder replica was used in the Miami Vice television show. The resulting publicity caused Ferrari to sue McBurnie Coachcraft, claiming that the California Daytona Spyder had the similarity of exterior design of the Ferrari and that the McBurnie car was likely to confuse the public. Ferrari won the suit and production of the California Daytona Spyder was shut down. This example was the actual car that Ferrari used in the lawsuit. The California Daytona Spyders were based on a Corvette chassis, in this case a 1973 model.
