Cable cut

This trough through the forest formerly accommodated a file of pylons that crossed the valley
and disappeared over the col to the right of the hill in the distance. Much prettier now that the cables have been taken out.

This picture was taken from the top of a nice little col that I ride up several times a year - the
Col de Goetzenberg. The road continues down to a French village on the German side of the hills. It
was only built in the 30s: before that the only access was by going through Germany. It's a 200-metre
climb and very steep in places: in icy weather it's impassible.

Steve beat me to it with the zipline idea. ;-)

A gorgeous view and interesting history, John.

Slowly but surely growing back. It would make a nice zip line path!

Fascinating! Thanks for the info, John. Do I see a couple birds in the tree there?
