Living in Houston, you are familiar with the flares that are in the local chemical plants. I spotted this one going off today. It is probably a couple miles away from the point I took the picture with my Canon 70-300 IS. When I got home and looked at it, I was amazed to see the birds on the wires, also a long way off.
