This is a photo for an experiment. I just installed Lightroom 5.5 and I am trying to figure out how some of the stuff works. It is supposed to have a nifty import module. I like using Bridge because it renames files exactly as I want them. I popped out into the front yard to take a few snaps to try importing them with the Lightroom module. I fiddled and hemmed and hawed for quite a while before deciding that my old workflow (Canon ZoomBrowser followed by Bridge) worked great and I am not going to change.
As far as the rest of Lightroom 5.5, the jury is still out. It seems to take a long time to import stuff. It uses a different catalog format than 2.0, so you can't go back and forth between them. It took a VERY LONG TIME to import my old catalog into 5.5. It also seems to take a long time to just import a few subdirectories of photos. There are probably lots of optimizations I can do to speed things up, so here comes a couple months of staggering around in the dark. I did find a couple YouTube videos (Julieanne Kost, who is very good) which were helpful.
If any of you have experiences with the new Lightroom 5.5, I would like to hear your thoughts. Next step is to convert to Photoshop CC, but that can wait a bit until I need it.
