We went over to Space Center Houston today with Ginny's sister and family. I am always impressed by this comparison. On the right is the Mercury Redstone rocket that sent Alan Shepard into space for the first American sub-orbital flight. The silver engine on the left is the F1. Five of these monsters (1.5 million pounds of thrust each) powered the Saturn V, used for the Apollo trips to the moon. Amazing.
