I surprised myself with this shot. I took a picture out on the ramp in the fog. As you all know, fog sucks the color out of everything. So, I got to playing around and ended up with this effect which reminds me of a 50'S color illustration in an aviation magazine. I think it is very cool, but as you all know, I am easily amused.

You are right John, a nice treatment.

Thanks for the explanation John

The reason is that P-51s and other single engine fighters had a tremendous amount of power so they could swing more blades. For small civilian aircraft, two blade props are cheaper than 3 or 4. A three blade prop would be a smaller diameter because of the limited power in the small aircraft. A p-51 (in later versionos) had over 2200 horsepower. The two airplanes here have a measly 145-150 hp.

The luscious color treatment makes it look like a scene from a dream.

That is a cool shot. Next time there is a heavy fog in the morning you should silouette (cant spell, im an engineer so im excused) your planes with your car headlights. I think that picture would look cool too.
