Dave Beedon has often remarked about the evil math. Well, here is a remedy that seems to quite successfully dull the pain of excessive math (or chemistry or physics). Apparently, Dave needs to dull the pain of math after balancing his checkbook (or maybe Renata does that for him). Anyway, after the last student left tonight I headed for an adult beverage, and it finally struck me that my favorite table Scotch is, of all things, Teacher's. How appropriate. BTW - these are the subjects I am currently teaching. Statistics is a new one this year.

It is an absolutely revolutionary way to measure the level of scotch in the bottle, you should claim patent in new statistical approach !

There is much to decry in this image and its author is due for a moral rebuke. The top book incites terrible memories of a class in which I fell asleep: unconsciousness was horribly brief and was ended by a pencil, of all things! The subject of statistics has a high probability of giving me a headache. The subjects of the dark red book and the bright red book will bring a pestilence upon the land; I dare not even mention their subject lest I be turned into a pillar of salt. While the contents of the bottle can produce a pleasant state of being in which the aforementioned horrors fade from cognizance, the cruel reality is that when the effect wears off, nothing about the awfulness represented here will have changed. Seeing this image has contaminated my spirit, so I must now go on a retreat with the Bhagwan in order to cleanse myself. Please include me in your prayers.
