Dornier Do X2, the second of the three Do X flying boats built built by Dornier in Germany
Do X1 was operated by Lufthansa in Germany while Do x2 and X3 were operated by SANA (the Italian state airline) before being transferred to the Regia Aeronautica (Italian Air Force)
Do X1 first flew in 1929, Do X2 in 1931 and Do X3 in 1932. Both Do X1 and X2 had their tails break off in heavy landings one month apart in 1933. The Do X1 accident was covered up with the aircraft reappearing in a museum in 1936.
Do X2 was repaired and continued in limited service with Do X3 until being withdrawn from service in 1935, both were scrapped in 1937.
Do X1 was destroyed in a bombing raid in 1943.
