A Portrait of the Artist as a Younger Man.

Company Bay, Dunedin.

John Noakes was a Dunedin artist, who painted over 60 local Bus shelters. He passed away in 2006 but his colouful legacy lives on. This shelter was painted as a tribute to John.

A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man is a 1977 film adaptation of James Joyce's novel of the same name.

Wow great find and so sad to hear of John Noakes passing, home news doesn't get over here, and if I forget to check the net major things happen at home and I miss out. This is a fabulous image wonder who the artist was? You have captured it well.

This is wonderful, and an ingenious find for the film title. I have not seen the film, but I loved Joyce's novel. V

Yer artist looks more middle-aged here, yet there is a hint that he had attained local renown..as for Joyce, right up there with Thomas, Adichie, Hosseini, Dylan, Allende, Bowen, and O'Flaherty...whoever your heroes are they are worth celebrating...deluxe textures here...V

Well this image certainly suits the film. Good find.
And what a legacy John Noakes left behind.
BTW most our bus shelters are made of glass now with horrible bright advertisements on them. And the youth often break the glass too.
