A head of steam.

Dunedin Railway Station.

Traction engines tend to be large, robust and powerful, but heavy, slow, and have poor manoeuvrability.
Nevertheless, they revolutionized agriculture and road haulage at a time when the only alternative prime mover was the draught horse

splendid image of a fine machine. The mono treatment and de-focussing of the left hand half as though it was shimmering in the heat haze created by the heat is masterly. I don't miss the usual green (or red) colour at all

What a well looked after engine he is... You could make up a story about him John - and call it 'Thomas the Steam Engine'...
