The humble Spud.

The humble spud, staple food for many. The Kumara, sweet potato, sustained the early Polynesian explorers and is a wonderful addition to any diet.

There is a lot of good art showing up in this challenge and this is one of the best. The late Canadian photographer, Bud Watson said, " The there is nothing more stunning than a successful photograph". This is a successful photograph.

I love this shot!

A short story... Years ago I had a friend who did not have money to fritter away. It was Christmas. We never exchanged gifts, but that year she came to my door on Christmas eve with a large heavy package wrapped in pretty paper and ribbon and told me to put it under the tree and not open it until Christmas day. The next day I opened her package to find a box full of home-grown potatoes from her garden. I think I was the only person living in N.J. with potatoes under the Christmas tree. She knew what I loved and I enjoyed everyone of them and think about her every Christmas and we still keep in touch. Thank you Annette for that lovely gift! The memory of that special time still touches my heart .

Potatoes came from south america and where first only used by kings and aristocrates. In your shot they have a glow of a king!

I love potatoes of all kinds. Sweet, baking potatoes, new potatoes...you name it, I'll eat it. Garlic is always a must except on the sweet potatoes where pecans on top just rock! Yummy1
