6 13 Text .jpg

This is the text message that I woke up too.

She died while waiting for an inpatient hospice bed.

One of my areas of research is on trying to improve short
length of stays in hospice. Too often, persons are referred
in the last days of life - a big question is why? Can we improve?
Can we get persons into hospice earlier? If not, what can
we do to improve their quality of care.

This text brings clarity and focus to why I am doing this research -
an urgency to improve so no one has to die without adequate symptom
control, emotional, and spiritual support.

Hope is not enough. Now is the time for action..
