Jim, I have a shot like this that has perplexed me in regards to idenifying the bird, after studying Kaufman book I think I'm in agreement with the anonymous commenter below. I hate to burst your bubble but this photo that Iam looking at is a green backed Heron, not a Young Great Blue Heron.
