This giant spinning shaft connects a turbine to a generator. Just below this room, water gushes from a penstock into a spiral shaped tunnel, through turbine blades and out to the bottom of the dam. The spinning turbine blades turn a giant ring of magnets overhead, generating an electromagnetic field which produces electricity.
