INNERSPACE

What do you think you see? This image reminds me of stars, galaxies, and a nebula
at countless light years from our marble. In actuality, this is merely resin leaching from
a seed that had fallen into the water at the NAS Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary. The inspiration to
enhance this image slightly for such an appearance is from the Astronomy Picture of the Day Archive . . .

Bob, you did a fantastic job with all of the pictures. The innerspace picture was by far the most interesting, however, the red-shouldered hawk was absolutely beautiful. I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Thank you, Enny. The blue is very close to what I saw in the field. Darkening the image to
give it the "deep space" effect I was looking for led to the loss of the shades of yellow, orange,
green, and purple that were strongly in the original image. I also enhanced the color of the seed
to give it an otherworldly appeal. -- Bob Pelkey
