We visited the Minnanthu Village(?) in Bagan, and I'm glad we went there. Life in the village as we saw it, existing in the harsh landscape among the remaining temples and pagodas, could well have been frozen in time and the same as it was a thousand years ago at the height of the Bagan empire. Bullock-carts pulled by oxen continue to be used for transporting people and materials, as they were a millenium ago...
