A day rushing to get all chickens in a row before leaving…
An obnoxiously early wake up time…
A kid in the row behind me slamming into the back of my chair every few minutes…
A kid in the row behind me who vomits…
Arriving on the island in a rain storm…
The hotel reception desk having trouble finding my reservation…
My name being listed everywhere as MRS. Jenfu Cheng…
Having trouble getting an Ethernet connection in the room and being told by the support tech that I might have a defective cable…
Buying a 20 minute internet access card for the business center and having a computer so slow that in 20 minutes only one email was sent, maybe (the 20 minute period timed out just as Hotmail was in the middle of sending that one email)…
This trip has gotten off to a bit of a rocky start. The goal is to not “sweat the small stuff” but it’s sometimes tough when the small stuff hits you like the water drops of a “Chinese Water Torture” (don’t know if it was really the Chinese who came up with that one).
But, I have to admit, much of that melted away when I looked over to see Renu in the ocean breaking in her mask and fins, backlit by a spectacular sunset.
My conference starts bright and early tomorrow morning, hopefully along with a new attitude.
