Scavenger Hunt - April 2011 - #13

The Wellington Cable Car is one of Wellington’s oldest & most popular tourist attractions, and first Cable Car was used in 1896
The cars run from Lambton Quay in the heart of the central business district
to the top entrance of the Wellington Botanic Gardens with its magnificent lookout over the City and harbour - Te Whanganui-a-Tara (The Great Harbour of Tara).
It is very full at peak hours with the workers using it too.

This is an awesome photo - the Chamber of Commerce may want to buy it! Excellent view of the city and bay. Love seeing the passengers. I grew up in a city that uses cable cars too. Practical for mountainous terrain! Excellent photo... BV

How interesting. A really novel form of public transport! And yes, what a view. Amazing.

A great image; I am sorry I missed it when I went to NZ in the 80's.
