A cathedra (Latin, "chair", from Greek, kathedra, "seat") is the chair or throne of a bishop.
It is a symbol of the bishop's teaching authority in the Church.
This Glasonbury type chair was presented by the congregation in 1896. It is make of NZ native tree – Rimu.
In NZ 1896 is quite old for an antique.
