All of the cement block needed for construction in the village is produced here. The rock is crushed and turned into gravel, which is mixed with concrete. The mixture is placed into a mold and has pressure applied from a long handle and machine. This drives the air out of the mixture and further compacts the concrete. The mold is then pulled up and away with a long handle and the blocks are carried to the drying area. The two women seen here do all of the work and normally spend 8 to 10 hours a day repeating the operation over and over.
