This image and the following image number 3915, show the double wall that surrounded Gao Xiu Village in the past. The wall is to the immediate right and to the far left in this image. It was pointed out by one of the village leaders that when the enemy scaled the first wall, which they would have to do in order to try and enter the village over the second wall, they would be slowed by the second wall and this gave the defending army the opportunity to use their weapons against the intruders. The wall was thought to have been constructed 200 or more years ago.
