This is now the largest drum tower in the village. Guests from other villages and the local government arrived during the day to commemorate this event. The firework display lasted for about 20 minutes and was the culmination of the day's events celebrating the opening of the drum tower. During the Cultural Revolution most of the drum towers and the large drums housed in them were destroyed. Many Kam communities are now reinvigorating their desire to strengthen their culture by building their historically significant drum towers.

The large drum, which the drum tower is named for, is difficult to obtain because there are few craftsmen trained to construct them. Almost all the drums in the Kam communities were destroyed. While some drum towers remain almost no drums do. This community has commissioned the making of a large drum and they hope to place it in this new drum tower within a year.
