All of this wood is Cunninghamia. Mortis and tenon with peg construction is used throughout. No nails are used in the building of drum towers. Ornamental pegs are seen on the columns. These go through the tenon of the beam to hold it in place. Fired clay tiles can be seen that make up the roofing material. These tiles are common throughout Hunan, Guizhou and many other provinces.
