David Brydie Mitchell House

This Federal style home was built by former Georgia governor David Brydie Mitchell around 1823. The home was located in Baldwin County about 7 miles from Milledgeville. This photo was taken around 1940-41. After future owners it came to be known as the Mitchell-McComb-Rentz House. While Mitchell lived there he called it Mount Nebo. The house was destroyed by fire sometime in the 1940's. Governor Mitchell signed the charter for the city of Jacksonville, Ga., in 1815.
