Workmore Elementary and High School Between Jacksonville and McRae

Workmore School in the 1940's and 50's -- The school was shaped like an "H" -- the vertical parts were the elementary and high school wings and the horizontal joining part was the auditorium. We entered "chapel" in the auditorium to the lively piano playing of Ms. Leonis Cowart. We also departed the same way. She could really play that piano. It was a good school and I received some good instruction here. I attended here through the 9th grade and graduated at Broxton High School in 1958.

Skip, Mrs Leonis Hulett was my 3rd grade teacher. She was wonderful! Marilyn Clements Mashburn

Hello. My step-grandmother was Leonis Cowart Hulett, second wife of my granddaddy "Dock" Hulett. She was a sweet lady. And I am pretty sure my Aunt Gladys (Hulett) Newman attended the Workmore school. (She's turning 90 this month, Sept 2011, and still going strong.) Thank you for this picture.

Hi. My name is Wesley Rawlins. My Grandparents were W.Y. and Florine Rawlins of Workmore. My Dad was Russell Rawlins. He passed away Nov. 30 2005 and was laid to rest in the Sand Hill cemetary as were my grandparents and brother Jimmy.

Hi! My mom's name is Myrtle Rawlins, except that is obviously her married name. We are from KY. Bet somehow we are distantly related.

I would greatly appreciate additional information about Workmore. My mother graduated with honors from Workmore High in 1938. Her maiden name was Myrtle Rawlins. In my youth I attended many "May Sings" held there. My grandfather was Elmo Rawlins who passed away when I was an infant. I think he was one of many local farmers that supported the building of Workmore.
