Ocmulgee Elementary and High School was a model country school of the early forties. The modern brick structure with gymnasium lacked for nothing. Then something sad happened. The school burned in 1945. Mr. Stanton, the principal, can be seen in this picture. I think this was a first aid class or something for the World War II effort. I think that is my Mother, Mattie Williams, at the very back (dark hair, between the two sets of windows).
