Yankee Soldiers Burst In On Anthonys

Yankee Soldiers Burst Into Anthony Home At Sandersville, Ga. The father of Bascom Anthony, J.D. Anthony, is in a bad row of stumps as he faces Yankee soldiers in his home. Only the presence of their captain, in the house recuperating from a wound, saved the day for the Anthonys. Bascom Anthony, only five at the time, grew up to be a preacher and his first assignment was the Methodist Charge at Jacksonville, Ga. He was a colorful character. From the window where he is standing he has just seen a Yankee soldier take away their horse. They also fried their cow for supper. [See Article No. 188.]

Did you do this art? My husband descends from a brother of J.D. Anthony. I have been doing Anthony history since 1989. Have you ever come across a John Shelton and wife Hannah of NC and moved to GA 1800s? I love the art. Looked at some of your research.
