I wasn’t planning on posting an alternate PAD photo today, but how could I not post this? We live down a dirt country road, and quite often in the spring and summer we will see an assortment of box turtles and tortoises laying their eggs in the warm sand and dirt. This big guy is what I call a “Snapping Turtle”, what my daughter Allison calls an “Alligator Turtle”. I’m not sure what the real name of it is, but I do know this is the largest one I’ve ever seen on the road. Look at those claws and the dinosaur / alligator like tail! These things are as mean as a snake and almost as fast as one when they strike. The jaws on this one would bite through a wrist like snapping old dried wood.
