The most important part of the Chinese Suona is the mouthpiece, if this is not taken care of properly, the Suona won't make a tone. To harden and prepare the mouth piece, one can sandpaper it or press it shortly on something after dampening. The Suona is a very loud and persistant instrument and often used in ensembles.

Ob eine Suona gut klingt, entscheided das kleine aus Palmblättern bestehende Mundstück, das immer feucht gehalten werden sollte. Die Suona ist je nach Größe des Instruemntes sehr hoch und hat einen durchdringenen lauten Klang.
