P8130020DxO Survived!

All of yesterday's milkweed caterpillars on my large asclepias syriaca (also known as common milkweed) disappeared. I think they were victims of the hornets and wasps that were feeding on the "honeydew" left by the oleander aphids.

This morning I discovered three on my swamp milkweed where perhaps they are camouflaged by the smaller but more numerous leaves.

I would have liked to take more photos but I was buzzed by a yellow jacket and decided it would be better to go inside.

This is the first year that I've ever had monarch butterfly caterpillars on my plants. I haven't seen any monarchs since one straggler in April.
