Had a little excitement yesterday when my husband discovered what we thought was a bald faced hornet nest in a doorway. We waited until dark and then sprayed it with ancient wasp and hornet spray. This morning I went to see what fell out of the nest and there was this one yellow jacket and two larvae. I took a few pictures with my phone and then went downstairs with a macro lens and while I was shooting saw a wing move! Still alive 12 hours after being sprayed. Another spritz and it was a goner. I ordinarily like to rehome insects, preferring not to kill anything, but yellow jackets are not candidates for rehoming.
