Was passing the sliding door to the deck when I heard a dove cooing. My immediate thought was, "You're too late. Your spot has been taken by a Carolina wren".

I was wrong! As soon as it saw me it took off.

I then went out with my phone and a flashlight to check out the nest cavity and found it empty.
