P7236397 Attention Handymen and Handyladies!

I need a suggestion as to how to solve this gap problem between my tiled wall and granite counter, which is shallower than my former countertop. I knew we would have this problem and didn't want a granite backsplash. The space is about 8mm in height. Tile strips are way bigger than that. Please give me your ideas! Solution has to be heat proof, since the wall is near a cooktop.

Is it possible to remove the bottom row of tile and then do a tile back splash? Since tiles can be cut go with an accent color maybe picking up the colors in the granite. The cut edge would be against the granite. Some tiles come in pretty long lengths so not be too busy and would not have to match grout lines.
I think a real thin line of tile would not look very good, but maybe a white quarter round tile if they make such a thing, might work without looking like an afterthought.

I presume you don't want to rip out all the tile & retile, but my other thought is to do a tile mural behind the cook top and paint the the other areas where the tile is removed. I don't mind paint on kitchen walls.
