A mention in the January/February 2012 issue of Saveur magazine stated:
One of my favorite food magazines had this little tidbit in its Jan/Feb 2012 issue:
"There's a reason so many food bloggers we know have a 50mm f/1.8 macro lens attached to their cameras. It makes virtually every dish it captures look delicious. That lush close-up of a carton of raspberries, where just a few are in razor-sharp focus and the rest gradually blur away? This lens. a shot of a garden salad every vein and dewdrop perfectly visible? This lens. The large aperture and shallow depth of field are the keys to foolproof food photography."

Since I don't have a 50mm f/1.8 macro lens I decided to play with my Panasonic 20mm f/1.7, which is not a macro lens. I selectively focused on a few of these sad-looking blueberries that my husband picked off the Blue Ridge Parkway yesterday, and then used the new Iris Blur in Photoshop CS6 to enhance the blur. I think the composition might be improved by not having the sharp area as centered as it is.
