This image was shot with my Panasonic LX3 at a 35mm equivalent of 24mm and the bulging is quite distracting.
Problem with wide angles is they're often accompanied by "barrel distortion", or bulging sides.
The next image shows correction in process with the Warp Tool in Photoshop and explains how it's used.
