For at least the past three years butterfly visits have been very sparse in my part of Western North Carolina. All insect population, as a matter of fact, is down tremendously - especially bees. It makes me very sad. Today, this butterfly decided to stay for an extended (in butterfly time) visit and I was able to capture several good views with my 300mm f/4 lens.
