Prairie Dragline

One day it's cold the next it's warm.....go figure huh.
So I lucked out today a nice +10C day with good cloud cover to capture this image for the company.
This is a Thunderbird TY-90 log dragline and the first one to be used on the prairies to move sand.
It is digging sand from the bottom of a gravel pit that is full of water and can dig to a depth of 150 feet, so i'm told.
Very cool to watch this "thing" work that boom pole is over 100' and the guy wires hold this bad boy up.

Nikon D300 ,Tokina AT-X 116 PRO DX 11-16mm f/2.8

other sizes: small medium original auto

I've seen the log drag lines on TV but never to move sand but hey why not? Kind of looks like a giant insect.
