The Hat Toss

I got to shoot the Blades game last night with Steve Hiscock (one of the best sports shooters I know).
Steve needed to be over the action for the first goal that the Blades got to get the "Hat Toss" shot.
The first goal for the blades came in the first period and I choose to capture the image with the fisheye.
Steve was using my 10-20mm so he could get a wide image also......
Thanks Steve I had a blast..............

What would have been an even neater shot was your hat flying down in this shot too. About 5-10ft out I think would give a nice perspective.

Hehe, thanks for the compliments Mike, it means a lot coming from you :) I used a very similar shot for the Saskatoon Blades website, but the 10.5 fisheye ROCKS! The Sigma 10-20 is great, but I like how the fisheye works so well with this shot. Like B. Shortall commented, can I use this photo? (Kidding)

The Hat toss is a variation of the Teddy Bear Toss. Once a year, most if not all teams in the WHL will designate one night to toss Teddy Bears on the ice when the home team scores their first goal. The Blades used to do this, but figured that having fans toss touques, gloves and scarves instead of Teddy Bears, and then donating them to "less priveledged" people in Saskatoon would be a better idea... and as it was -30C last night , I tend to agree :)
