A park ranger explains the history of Mount Rushmore and Gutzon Borglum's model of what the completed sculpture of Mount Rushmore was supposed to look like. World War II and Gutzon Borglum's death (1941) prevented completion of the sculpture as Gutzon Borglum envisioned it. Gutzon Borglum's son, Lincoln, finished the sculpture as you see it today.
