Mackereth Cottage

We called in to see the cottage coming home from Echunga mid-afternoon Friday, I hadn't
seen the cottage since it was burnt and got quite a shock to see the devastation. The
old pear tree and ancient rose must have got burnt in the fire as well. At least there
were plenty of jonquils out in flower.

To read about this little cottage refer to the 2nd picture.

Both are in oils.

What a sad loss...I have photos of the 2009 fires in Victoria that I have never posted and can never bring myself to do so

That's sad, but it makes a wonderful subject for a painting

I'm not familiar with this cottage. Pity, I would have liked to visit it before the fire. How sad, but you have made a lovely picture of it with the oil look.

Fascinating bit of documentation. And it makes a lovely, if somewhat bittersweet, photo. Nice effects! V
