Common pug moth caterpillar (Eupithecia miserulata), #7474

This small caterpillar was on a black-eyed susan (Rudbeckia hirta), alongside a little used trail. According to David Wagner in his excellent "Caterpillars of Eastern North America", the colour of this caterpillar is extremely variable, but always with the herringbone pattern. It feeds on many types of plants.

Very straight caterpillar.

It's a very long caterpillar. Will his patterns be the same as the patterns on the moth's wings? Super capture of him on the flower. V.
