Phelps Gate, Yale University

Phelps Gate, Old Campus Side.

September in My Life often includes a trip to Yale.
I live within 6 miles of four Universities and a couple of colleges. My wife and I
liked to walk around campus when the new Freshmen Class was scurrying around. It
is still warm and students will be sunning on blankets, or sitting around reading.

Something has changed recently! Perhaps the Phelps Curse has ended? In years gone
by the gate was almost always closed. The underclassmen were never seen walking
through Phelps Gate. The Graduation Procession Passes through here. Legend had it
that if you passed through the gate before graduation, you would fail to graduate!

Be sure to see the other side of Phelps Gate:

Dear Leo,
I'm sorry to have been such a pain about your Phelps Gate photo taken inside the\
Old Campus. I am still very much interested in getting a copy of this picture.
Thank you very much.

I never heard about that one. I wouldn't chance walking through there if I were an undergraduate! :)

Cool shot and I like old traditions like this, however false they may be.
