Thanks. I am currently looking to upgrade my Nikon 28-200 3.5-5.6 to the 70-200 2.8 VR for the additional speed and sharpness. Do you get used to lugging the extra weight and handshoot it, or do you mostly use tripod or monopod on the long lenses?

Thanks again for the info you post. I've learned a great deal about composition and lighting from you. Hoping to pick up a couple of studio lights over the summer to experiment with.

Jim, I'm just giving this new lens a shake down. Normally for this type of shot I would be shooting in this type of light at f/5.6 to f/8. I'm really interested in seeing how the lens preforms wide open. Many lenses can be kind of soft wide open...not the 300f/2.8 from what I'm seeing. I'm very happy with this lens. It is very sharp corner to corner; even wide open. It focuses very fast and accurately.

Out of curiousity (I'm still relatively new at this) why did you shoot this at iso400? With a shutter speed of 1/1600 apparently there was plenty of light. Thanks!
