Skye Kissed Mono

Old Man of Storr, Skye, Scotland.

The pinnacles of The Old Man of Storr and his lesser cousins photographed on an April morning with snow still lying on the distant Cuillins. Soft directional light cast long shadows across the hillside revealing a wealth of textural detail which I thought might make a worthy conversion to black and white. What you won't be able to see is the thin covering of frost that served to reduce the high contrast still further.

Very famous formation and view, and a beautiful capture of it Ian. Wonderful light and great in B&W. I'm sure getting the itch to visit Scotland again, thanks to your pics; this time with a digital camera.

That's a beautiful photo Ian, and you're right, it makes a wonderful B&W image. So many lovely tones and textures and greyscales across the whole scene, a wonderful portrayal of morning light in the hills, helped all the more by the depth between your vantage point and the Cuillin...definitely one of my favourites of yours! V+
